The probiotic strain Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5® comes from our collection of dairy cultures at Chr. Hansen. LA-5® has been granted QPS (Qualified Presumption of Safety) status from the European body EFSA and is safe for human consumption.1 It has been used in food and dietary supplements since 1979.
The LA-5® strain is a well-researched probiotic and has been described in more than 150 scientific publications. More than 60 of these publications describe data from human clinical studies primarily conducted in adults and the elderly across various areas of health. These research studies primarily investigated the LA-5® strain in combination with the Bifidobacterium, BB-12® strain.
